Google Thinks I’m A Virus

Written December 19th, 2007 by Paul in General

A few minutes ago typed “47 folders” into the google search bar built into my firefox browser and here’s what appeared when I hit the enter key. Aparently, it thinks I’m an automated bot or spyware application. Or worse, there’s something on my system sending automated requests!

So I guess I’m off to do a bunch of scans on my system to see if my laptop is infested with spyware.

The Transition To PaulShort.com Is Happening

Written December 18th, 2007 by Paul in General

I’ve basically closed down all my other blogs and redirected them (and their associated feeds) to this site (paulshort.com). The only other blog I have running at the moment is Healthacker.com which will be revived early in th new year.

The reason why I’ve done this is quite simple: I’m starting fresh in 2008 with my blogging and building a single brand around my own name first - something I should have done from the beginning instead of spreading myself too thin.

So if you’ve been subscribed to any of my other blogs, you can unsubscribe from them now and unclutter your feedreaders. If you feel so inclined, please subscribe to one of my 2 main RSS feeds at either paulshort.com/feed or add me at twitter.com/paulshort. Or, you can also subscribe to get updates to this site via a daily email digest by entering your email address in the form in the upper right hand side of this page.

Thanks everyone!

How To Be An Uber Troll

Poke sticks in people’s eyes until they blink, then trounce them for blinking. See here and here for perfect examples.

Nick Denton Seeks Gawker Editor, Hires Himself!

Written December 17th, 2007 by Paul in Blogging, Business

Last week’s plea post looking for a new managing editor for Gawker.com, Gawker media’s flagship site says:

“The right candidate will oversee Gawker’s evolution.

A feel for the tone of the internet, and the particular obsessions of the internet audience, is necessary.”

And the New York Times reports yesterday that Gawker founder, Nick Denton himself will be taking over.

I’ve always liked Nick’s writing style and have been reading his material online since late 2003, wherever he happens to be writing, so I’ll be gawking Gawker.com more closely from now on.

Looking at the bottom of the ramp

Written December 17th, 2007 by Paul in Blogging

In the first week of 2008, I’ll be blogging with a fervor and passion never before seen on this site. So, like, I’ll try to squeeze in about 2 posts a day *sheepish grin*.

In all seriousness though, I’ve been off the blogging and tech radar for far too long now. All this wasted time could have been used to build a brand, but instead, I’ve been pissin it all away.

That’s changing over the next couple weeks.
